About the Book

The Children of the Dragon

What does it mean to leave everything behind in the hope of finding a better future?

As South Vietnam collapses in 1975, two young friends, Thuyen Pham and Mai Thi Linh, face impossible choices about their futures. Years later, an American journalist uncovers the stories of Vietnamese refugees and the lasting scars of war.

Across the ocean, journalist Greg Costello investigates the journeys of Vietnamese immigrants in America. Their stories of loss, sacrifice and resilience reveal the emotional scars carried by veterans and refugees, and the lasting effects of Agent Orange.

A story of friendship, family, displacement and the search for belonging.
